I used to be the biggest supporter of coincidence. You wouldn’t have been able to convince me that some things in life are pre-planned. I laughed at people who thought we had soulmates and that everything happens for a reason.
But this mindset got extremely challenged when I entered a spiritual awakening six years ago. I, the down-to-earth backpacker from the most down-to-earth country in the world (the Netherlands), got pushed into this spiritual bullshit.
Not because I was looking for it, but because that was destined for me.
Rejecting the process
In the beginning, I didn’t want to have anything to do with spiritual stuff. When I lived in Australia when I was 22 years old, my shared house was full of people who were doing woo-woo shit, and I could only laugh at them.
What were these people thinking?!
But a part of me also got intrigued. Was there something I didn’t see? Did they have access to knowledge unavailable to me? Why were they so connected? How come they could talk about all these things I had no idea about?
Now, more than 15 years after that time in Australia, I am also one of them. And I finally understand it.
Nothing happens by coincidence
Before I got into a spiritual awakening, I was mostly angry. At society, at my job, at my social life, at my inability to find a partner, at my family. I felt like nobody really understood who I really was, including myself.
Then, I met somebody who can only be described as a soulmate. He completely turned my life upside down. Not because of him, but because of the unexplainable things surrounding our relationship.
I had never felt so connected to anyone. It was like his emotions became part of me, and I couldn’t control how I felt anymore.
We had an energetic connection that is still very hard to explain.
